Roses
If you're looking to add a bit of beauty to your garden, you should definately consider planting some roses.
These types of plants have long been regarded the most beautiful plants in the world. They are often given to loved
ones on Valentines day or on Wedding days for their beauty and romantic symbolism.
The best time to plant the rose
is in spring, that's the optimal time for the roses to grow well because the winter will help
the root to be comfortable with the soil. Choose a spot in the garden that is suitable for the rose,
with rich soil and open for full sunlight throughout the day. Dig the hole at least 2 feet deep and
plant the rose in it.
However, roses can be quite high maintenance as they're fairly delicate plants and hence require a lot of care to
ensure healthy growth.

Here are some methods to make looking after your roses quick and easy;
Pruning

Pruning is an absolutely essential part of rose gardening, this is the maintenence activity that will take up
most of your time. When the rose is growing, some of the shoots and buds will become damaged, you must cut those
off as soon as you see them. This will ensure new buds can grow. It advisable to wear gloves to protect your hands
from the thorns and use a good pair of pruning shears.
Fertilization

Roses require lots of fertilizer when they're growing, you should be adding fertilizer roughly once per month.
You can use organic fertilizer or synthetic fertilizers, depending on your approach to gardening, do you want
nature to do the work or add a helping hand? I always found the healthiest rose growth when using organic
fertilizer as there was no die-back.
Watering

Roses absolutely love water, they need a lot of it to grow healthily however that does not mean simply pour lots
of water on. The best way to water roses is using a spray bottle to gently cover the roses. Top tip, water in the
morning to help prevent black spot.
Mulch

Mulch is putting some biodegradable materials such as dry leaves, charcoal etc. near the plants. They help
absorb the water; will require not too much weeding and not causing diseases for the roses.
To conclude, roses are a beautiful plant and are very rewarding to grow if you follow the proper
steps.
